Call of the Faith – issue 17/January – February 2012
Issue 17/January-February 2012 of the “Call of the Faith” magazine, publication of the Romanian Patriarchate addressed to all the family has just come out.
Because 2012 was declared Homage Year of the Holy Unction and Looking After the Sick, the magazine urges in its editorial to pay heed to the sick, to alleviate their suffering, as Narcisa-Mihaela Câdă, redactor co-ordinator informs us.
The pre-school children are stimulated to use their skill and imagination for using paper in order to make children holding hands in a dance of friendship. The rubric “Let’s Draw!” presents the steps to be followed for drawing a portrait through various means of drawing.
The little school children read the history of the Old Testament leaning about the birth of Moses and how to be grateful to God, following the example of the leprous who came back to thank the Incarnated Son of God. The school children can also learn how the Mother of God protected Saint Seraphim of Sarov in his childhood.
The big school children are the addressees of the rubric explaining the moment of the Divine Liturgy dedicated to a part of the great Eucharistic prayer, namely the anamnesis.
The rubric “World of God” presents details on the imperial penguin, while the rubric “Romanian Traditions for Curious Children” explains the story of the names of the twelve months of the year.
The school children learn how to sing, together with their teachers, the song “The Romanian language” while reading the rubric “The Edifying Song”.
The rubric “Good, Beautiful and True” reads about the Christians from Asia Minor, during the first decades of the 2nd century AD.
“Call of the Faith” magazine presents a new rubric entitled “Meaningful Stories” which deals with moralising stories. The story entitled “Help on a Winter Day” teaches the children to be generous and help those in need, just like the Good Samaritan.
All children, together with their parents and grandparents are invited to play when reading the rubric “Let’s play!” and playing the game “Wonderful Healing by Christ, the Saviour”.
The rubrics of the second part of the magazine are addressed to parents. “Romanian Traditions for Careful Parents” reads about disease and good health in the conception of the traditional man.
The magazine will present, from issue 17/January-February 2012 forward, a series of interviews with paediatricians specialised in various fields of medicine, emphasising the “Homage Year of the Holy Unction and Looking After the Sick”. The first interview is given by doctor Petru Damir, paediatrician of general medicine at the “Institute for Mother and Child” of Bucharest.
The last rubric of the magazine entitled “Let’s Learn how to Live Healthy” gives the readers useful information on the treatment of the gastrointestinal diseases.
