The continuity of the relationships of friendship and mutual good understanding between the Romanian Orthodox Church and The Mosaic Cult
The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:
Today, 1 September 2011, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church received, at the patriarchal residence, His Eminence Menachem Hacohen, Great Rabbi of the Mosaic cult of Romania, at the end of his mission in our country. The Great Rabbi was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Deborah Hacohen, Mr. Israel Sabag, president of JOINT Romania association and by Mr. Aurel Vainer, president of the Jewish Communities Federation of Romania.
During the meeting, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel underlined the main points of the relationship based on friendship and mutual good understanding between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Mosaic Cult, relations that the Great Rabbi Menachen Hacohen encouraged with much love, responsibility and wisdom.
His Eminence Menachem Hacohen took turns in emphasising the necessity to continue the co-operation between the two religious communities, Judaic and Christian of Romania, especially by organising colloquies designed to point out the Judaic – Christian tradition as spiritual basis of the European culture and civilisation.
In this context, His Beatitude underlined the importance of taking concrete steps for promoting a practical inter-religious dialogue among the religious cults of Romania, such as the setting up, at the initiative of the Romanian Patriarchate, of the Consultative Council of the Religious Cults of Romania, on 14 April 2011.
At the same time, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, appreciated the equilibrium and wisdom that Great Rabbi Menachem Hacohen proved during his activity in Romania.
Both parts agreed to organise together a colloquy in Bucharest, in 2012, with the theme Diaspora Both in the Judaic tradition and in the Christian Experience.
