Chief of the Commission for Foreign Politics within the Palestinian National Council on a Visit to the Romanian Patriarchate
The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:
Today, 9 September 2011, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church received at the Patriarchal Residence Mr. Dr. Nabil Shaath, chief of the Commission for Foreign Politics within the Palestinian National Council. The Palestinian official was accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Ahmad Bader Aqel, Ambassador of the Palestinian National Authority in Romania. Mr. Dr. Nabil Shaath thanked for reception and appreciated the good relations between the Romanian and Palestinian peoples. In this context, the Palestinian guests presented the efforts the Palestinian National Authority makes for peace in the Middle East. These efforts can influence, with international support, the peaceful co-inhabiting and mutual trust among peoples of different faiths and cultures in this region considered a holy place for the three great monotheist religions.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel expressed his hope that, through prayer to God and bilateral dialogue, the responsible factors in the region will identify practical solutions for implementing a durable peace in this part of the world.
During the meeting, the Patriarch of Romania informed the Palestinian guests of the stage of the relations between the Romanian Patriarchate and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem concerning the Romanian Settlement in Jericho.
Mr. Dr. Nabil Shaath addressed the Patriarch of Romania, on behalf of the Palestinian National Authority, the invitation to visit Jericho and other Palestinian territories.
