Message of the Patriarch of Romania on the occasion of the Christmas and of the New Year
Message of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, on the occasion of the Nativity of the Lord (2011) and of the New Year (2012)
“The feast of the Nativity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ or the Christmas feast is the feast of the merciful love of God for the humans. God-the-Father sends His Eternal Son into the world to become Man out of love for humans and for their salvation. The eternal gets into time, in history, the Unseen One makes Himself visible, the Unlimited makes Himself limited, God comes down from heaven so that He may raise us, the inhabitants of the earth, to the heavenly life. Because Christ, our Lord was born in a family, although Joseph was not His biological father but adoptive father, the feast of Christmas is especially the feast of the family. Infant Jesus or God-the-Child is a blessing for all children, for all families who give birth to children and grow them up properly, teaching them how to become citizens of the earthly homeland, as well as citizens of Heaven, of the heavenly homeland. We congratulate these days all those who help the poor families, who have many children and we also think, these days of the many children of our Romanian brothers who live in Diaspora. So, let us address a fatherly salute to all the Romanians outside the Romanian frontiers, wishing them all the grace of God in the preservation of the Romanian Christian identity and intensification of the communion of all Romanians from everywhere. We wish you all good health and salvation, peace and joy and much help from God in every good thing you do! On the occasion of the New Year we wish all the Romanians all the help of God in the New Year 2012 which we begin and wish it to be richer in good deeds and brighter both for those from the country and for those outside the Romanian boundaries. We wish them all many blessed years to come!
