18 August 2007 – Priest and theology professor SEBASTIAN ŞEBU passed away in Sibiu. Studies at the Theological Seminary of Cluj (1955 – 1960), at the University Theological Institute of Sibiu (19060 – 1964), doctorate courses – Homiletics and Catechetic branch – at the Theological Institute of Bucharest (1965 – 1968); specialised studies at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Vienna (1968 – 1971) and at the Evangelical one of the University of Hamburg (1973 – 1975); doctorate in Bucharest in 1978. Employee at the Archiepiscopal Centre of Sibiu (1971 – 1972); assistant with the practical section and courses of German Language at the University Theological Institute of Sibiu (1972 – 1983), substitute to the chair of Homiletics, Catechetics and Pedagogy (since 1978), titular professor at the same chair (since 1 October 1983); deacon (1976) and priest (1976); participant in ecumenical meetings abroad.

Works: Preoccupation and orientations in the Protestant contemporary sermon in West Germany (1980); Preaching the Gospel in the Romanian Church of Transylvania, in the book Transylvanian Contributions to the Orthodox Theology (1988); Let the children come to me. Small Catechism (3rd edition, 1994)¸ Methods for Teaching Religion (995), Articles and studies with homiletic and pastoral content, translations from the German language, sermons, reviews, in “Studii teologice” (Bucharest), Mitropolia Ardealului, Telegraful Român, Îndrumătorul bisericesc, in Sibiu, as well as in certain periodicals of the Orthodox communities abroad.
