28 July 1980 – Bishop PARTENIE CIOPRON passed away at Văratec Monastery
28 July 1980 – Bishop PARTENIE CIOPRON (baptised Ştefan) passed away at Văratec Monastery. Brother at Gorovei and Slatina Monasteries, then participant in the World War I. He becomes a monk at Slatina Monastery (1921); he attends the courses of the Seminary of Iaşi and of the Faculty of Theology of Cernăuţi, where he is awarded the doctor’s degree in 1937. Hierodeacon (1921), hieromonk (1934), archimadrite and exarch of the Monasteries of the Archdiocese of Iaşi (1934 – 1935), Religion professor in Iaşi (1936 – 1937), on 17 June 1937, he is elected Bishop of the Army (seated in Alba Iulia). From 1941 – 1944 Bishop locum tenens of Bălţi. After 1948, professor and director of the Monastic Seminary at Neamţ Monastery, then Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch (1949 – 1950), abbot of “Saint John the New” Monastery of Suceava (1960 – 1961), Bishop locum tenens of Roman and Huşi, then its Bishop since 1962. On 1 January 1978, he retires from his dignity. Author of some pastoral articles published in “Viaţa monahală” (Iaşi), and “Arma cuvântului” magazines, in “Biserica basarabeană” Bulletin of the Diocese of the army (Bălţi) and Metropolitan of Moldova and Suceava (Iaşi).
