The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:
Tuesday, 24 January 2012, at the anniversary of 153 years since the Union of the Romanian Principalities (1859), which took place on the Patriarchate Hill, in a church building situated near the Metropolitan Cathedral at the time, prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Metropolitan Nifon of Wallachia, Metropolitan Sofronie Miclescu of Moldova and the other authors of the Union of the Romanian Principalities will be remembered at the Divine Liturgy celebrated in the Patriarchal Cathedral.
After the Divine Liturgy, at 11.00 o’clock, a Te Deum will be celebrated as thanksgiving to God for the accomplishment of this great act in the history of the Romanian people to which the Romanian Orthodox Church had a significant contribution.
The Romanian Patriarchate urges the Orthodox clergy to celebrate thanksgiving services to God and for remembering the authors of the Union of the Romanian Principalities in all the Romanian Orthodox eparchies in the country and abroad.
