Carollers at the Patriarch of Romania
On 22 December 2011, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church was carolled by several groups of carollers from Bucharest, Sibiu and Vaslui who were received in Europa Christiana hall of the Patriarchate Palace.
Thus, the group of children of Kindergarten no. 24 of Bucharest sang traditional carols, the little singers having been blessed by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel: “We enjoy the performance you reached. We congratulate the ladies educators, your parents who gave birth to you and sent you to the kindergarten and all those who helped you learn these carols and beautiful dances related to the traditional Christmas customs and to the New Year. We pray God, the Infant Jesus who is being born in our hearts just as He was born in Bethlehem, Judea, to give you peace, joy and to keep on making you Romanian angels (...) We are glad when we see that our children learn, keep and convey the spiritual tradition of our carols and customs inspired by our Christian faith and cultivated by the Christian family”.
The representatives of the Lord’s Army Association – Sibiu carolled, in their turn, the Patriarch of Romania. To end with, His Beatitude spoke about the importance of carolling: “It is a very good thing to ponder a little more on this search, because the chant in which man looks for God makes man more responsible, just as God looks for man on the earth. So, man is both the Caroller and the Pilgrim and at the same time the One who receives both the pilgrim and the caroller”.
To end with, the group of carollers of the Children’s Palace from Vaslui presented their carols to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. His Beatitude said: “You are a source of joy for your parents, teachers and Church. This is why we congratulate you for these beautiful carols and for the national costumes of the area you are wearing here. We are very glad because you learn to sing our Romanian carols while young and enrich, at the same time, in general, the folkloric and spiritual treasure of the Romanian people with new aspects”.
Each group of carollers received presents on behalf of the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church according to tradition.
