His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel Received the Visit of Prince Albert II of Monaco
Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Patriarchal Residence in Bucharest, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, received His Serene Highness Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, who is currently in Romania in an official trip.

During the talks, several topics of common interest were discussed, such as the affirmation of Christian values in European context; inter-Christian, inter-religious and inter-cultural dialog; solutions offered by the Christian spirituality for the global economic crisis etc.

Within this context, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel underlined that Christian values, which are the very matrix of Europe, must be affirmed and defended with strength from an increased secularization which threatens the very identity of our continent.

The Patriarch reminded the support received by the Romanian Orthodox communities abroad from other Christian Churches, through the offering of worship places, which constitutes a concrete way of inter-Christian cooperation. His Beatitude noticed the gradual advance from a theoretical inter-Christian and inter-religious dialog towards a practical and existential one, which answers with solidarity to the practical issues in people's lives.

His Serene Highness Albert II of Monaco has underlined the importance of the European Christian cultural heritage and the need for a practical cooperation in the cultural, economical and environmental fields. To this end, he appreciated Romania's openness towards the sources of renewable energy.
