His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae of the two Americas visited two parishes in California
On Saturday, April 11th, 2009, His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae visited the Holy Resurrection parish in Sacramento, CA. Before the Vespers and Memorial Services, His Eminence Nicolae met with the Parish Council. The discussion was focused on the construction project of the parish. This is about the construction of a new Church on the property. Lately, the Parish Council took into consideration an alternative project connected with the present building. Opportunities to finance this project and other alternatives were also discussed. Archbishop Nicolae spoke about the stewardship program which should be considered in the future in order to have a better support of the parish.
The Holy Resurrection parish was established in 2002. Rev. Fr. Teodor Garlonta was appointed in April 2007 as the parish priest.
On Sunday, April 12th, 2009, the Palm Sunday, His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae visited for the first time the newly established parish of the Ascension of the Lord in Hayward, CA. Archbishop Nicolae presided over the Divine Liturgy. Also at the Holy Altar served the Rev. Fr. Gabriel Curpene, the parish priest, and Rev. Dn. Florin Lăpuşte.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy His Eminence spoke about the significance of the feast and the meaning of the Church. As a new parish, the faithful and their priest should become aware of the mystery of the Church. A festive reception was held after the Divine Liturgy. In the afternoon, Archbishop Nicolae met the Parish Council and discussed plans for the future of the parish.
