On the Holy and Great Thursday, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel Has Celebrated the Holy Liturgy at the Patriarchal Chapel
For Orthodox Christians today, April 16, 2009, is the Holy and Great Thursday, the day in which Christ the Lord washed the feet of His disciples and celebrated for the first time the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper. In all churches, the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great was celebrated, combined with the Vespers.
At the Patriarchal Chapel 'Holy Martyr Georges' the Holy Liturgy was celebrated by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church. During the Holy Liturgy, His Beatitude consecrated Antimensions for newly built churches. Also, His Beatitude Daniel has blessed as archdeacon the hiromonk Maxim Ţifui.
In His sermon, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel has underlined the significance of the Holy and Great Thursday, about the establishment of the Holy Eucharist and about the link between the Holy Eucharist and the Antimensions.
