Procession Dedicated To Orthodoxy In “Grădina Icoanei” Park, Capital City, District 2
Today, 21 February, thousands of faithful participated, in “Grădina icoanei” park (Icon Garden) of Bucharest, in the procession dedicated to the Orthodoxy Sunday. The column of pilgrims made for this place after the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. More details on the event were given by Mircea Toma, correspondent of Trinitas Radio Station: “Militaries in full dress, tens of priests and thousands of faithful, icons in their hands, set out in procession from “Icon Church” to the park of the same name, in district 2, of the capital city. They passed through the Icoanei, Jean Louis Calderon, Alexandru Xenopol and Arthur Verona streets. The priests beating the semantron and icons in their hands opened the procession. There followed the Orthodox flags, a wooden canopy covering an icon of the Mother of God and hundreds of icons to be consecrated by His Grace Ciprian Câmpineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, who also celebrated the Divine Liturgy. The procession would end in “Parcul icoanei”. Here, on a scene specially arranged, a sermon on the theme “The Icon – a Window to God” would be delivered and Orthodox chants would be sung. The entire manifestation could be watched on two large screens. The procession from “Gradina icoanei” has already become tradition. This is the third year that such an event is organised. The entire manifestation is designed to remember the year 843, at Constantinople, when they declared that worshipping the icons was not idolatry”.

Over one thousand faithful participated last night too, in the “Grădina icoanei” park, in a procession with holy icons. Both events are part of the programme entitled “Orthodoxy Light” organised by deanery 2, of Bucharest, with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and the support of the City Hall of district 2.
