The Annual Meeting of the Eparchial Assembly of the Archdiocese of Bucharest
Today, 4 February 2012, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel chaired, in his capacity of Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, the annual meeting of the Eparchial Assembly of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, held in the Synodal Room of the Patriarchal Residence. Also present at the meeting were: His Grace Timotei, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Spain and Portugal, His Grace Ciprian Campineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, His Grace Varlaam Ploiesteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, and His Grace Varsanufie Prahoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest.

To start with the meeting, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania presented to the members of the Eparchial Assembly of the Archdiocese of Bucharest the synthesis report concerning the activity of the departments of the Archdiocese of Bucharest in 2011, entitled: Continuity and New Focuses in the Activity of the Archdiocese of Bucharest.

The Patriarch of Romania also mentioned the priorities for 2012: “In 2012, we want to intensify especially the social-philanthropic activity concerning the looking after and helping of the sick. Looking after and helping the sick is a new intensified focus. Thus, intensified looking after and helping the sick, but helping with what needed for making their life better is a special focus. The second focus is an intensification of the activity with the youth and children, as well as with all the young people willing to deepen their faith in their relation with the Church!”

Then, the activity of the Archdiocese of Bucharest in 2011 was analyzed and estimated in the plenary of the Eparchial Assembly, as follows: the church-administrative commission, cultural and educational commission; economical, budgetary and patrimonial commission; social-philanthropic commission; and the organisational juridical and validation commission. Reports on the pastoral-missionary, organisational administrative, social-philanthropic, monastic, and editorial-printing activities were presented, as well as on the theological religious education, church-cultural patrimony, building new places of worship, etc.

To end with the meeting, the members of the Eparchial Assembly approved the reports of the commission on the activity of the Archdiocese of Bucharest in 2011 and established the priorities for 2012.
