His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel underlined the importance of this act of moral reparation for our Church, following the Communist regime during which hundreds of worship places were demolished. Subsequently, President Traian Basescu showed that at this holy moment, the power of the Church, the political power and the Romanians' power are all brought together.
The new holy place received several gifts from the Romanian Patriarchate and the Metropolitanate of Oltenia. Two fragments of the holy relics of he Holy Martyrs Sergius and Bacchus, the protectors of the church within the presidential office complex at Cotroceni, were offered by the Metropolitanate of Oltenia and placed in a special box offered by the Romanian Patriarchate, which also gave the newly consecrated church a blessing cross, an icon of St. Basil the Great, the Holy Bible and The Liturgikon, the jubiliary edition of 2008.
