In Curtea de Arges, Arges county, on Saturday, September 26, 2009, the Diocese of Arges and Muscel was elevated to the rank of Archdiocese and its shepherd, Calinic, was elevated to the rank of Archbishop. The ceremony took place in the Cathedral of Curtea de Arges following the Vespers, and debuted with the local proclamation of the canonization of three saints: the first bishop of Arges, St. Iachint of Vicina; the king of Arges, St. Neagoe Basarab; and the haesychast who lived in the mountains of the area, Righteous Ioanichie the New of Muscel.

The proclamation was followed by the elevation in rank of the Diocese of Arges and Muscel to the rank of Archdiocese and of its shepherd, Calinic, to the rank of Archbishop. Most Rev. Calinic received from His Beatitude Daniel the regalia of Archbishop. His Excellency has underlined the most important historical events of the new Archdiocese of Arges and Muscel.
