The Relics of St. Basil the Great and of St. Gregory of Nazianzus Will Be Brought to Bucharest to the Feast Day of the Patriarchal Cathedral
On the occasion of the feast day of the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, Righteous Demetrios the New, between October 24-29, 2009, the right hand of of St. Basil the Great will be brought from Athens by a delegation of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Greece led by Most Rev. Ierotheos, Metropolitan of Limnos. Also, a part of the relics of Gregory of Nazianzus, the friend of St. Basil the Great, will be brought to the Patriarchal Cathedral. These holy relics are a gift of the Archdiocese of Vienna.

Furthermore, the holy relics of St. Gregory of Nyssa, the brother of St. Basil the Great, currently at the Domnita Balasa Church in Bucharest, will also be brought to the celebration at the Patriarchal Cathedral. In this way, the faithful pilgrims will receive a special blessing through the veneration of the relics of the three Cappadocian saints, in this Memorial Year dedicated to St Basil the Great, Archbishop of Caesarea Cappadocia († 379) and to the other Cappadocian Saints.
