To End With The Divine Liturgy On The Orthodoxy Sunday, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel Presented The Book Entitled “On Faith And Creed”
This year, the editorial offices of the Romanian Patriarchy will publish several books dedicated to the “Homage Year of the Orthodox Creed and Romanian Autocephaly”. So, today, 21 February, after celebrating the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel presented the book entitled “On Faith and Creed”, published by the Editorial Office of the Bible and Orthodox Mission Institute of the Romanian Patriarchy: “On this Orthodoxy Sunday, God helped us to present an interpretation of the Nicene – Constantinople Creed and of the Apostle Creed, very popular in the Latin Church, in the Western Church of Augustin the Blessed. Augustin the Blessed lived in the second half of the 4th century and first half of the 5th, and passed away in 430. Augustin the Blessed is celebrated, together with Ieronim, on 15 June, in the Orthodox calendar. So, he is a Holy Father of the Western Church, but he belonged to the undivided Church. This book, entitled “On Faith and Creed”, “De fide et simbolo”, has been recently translated for the first time into the Romanian language by Tătaru Cazaban family. More exactly, by Mrs. Miruna Tătaru Cazaban, present here, and by Mr. Bogdan Tătaru Cazaban, who is a presidential counsellor. Nevertheless, he found time for translating the works of the “Holy Fathers”, informs Trinitas Television station.
The book is a translation of the writing by Augustin the Blessed at the end of the 4th century. The writing was based on a solemn speech Augustin the Blessed delivered at the Hipona Synod, in the North of Africa, in 393.
His Beatitude has also emphasised the importance of the book: “This book is useful, because it was written, but first of all delivered as an interpretation of the Creed. This great father of the Western Church and of the universal Church, Augustin the Blessed, explains the Orthodox Creed of Nicene and the Apostolic Creed in the West, which is shorter, but with the same content. Augustin the Blessed shows us, in this book, how we must keep the Orthodox faith and it is also here that he counteracts the heresies of his time, which estranged the people from the apostolic faith”.
The book “On Faith and Creed” may be soon purchased from all the churches and book-shops of the Romanian Patriarchy.
