The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:

On 21 May 2010, the Romanian Patriarchate and the Archdiocese of Bucharest organizes a series of manifestations dedicated to the feast of Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen, the protectors of the Patriarchal Cathedral.

At 7.00 o’clock a.m., the holy relics of Saint Pious Dimitrie the New, protector of Bucharest, and of Saint Emperors Constantine and Helen, protectors of the Patriarchal Cathedral, will be taken out in procession and laid under the canopy on the Patriarchate Hill to be worshipped by the faithful.

Later on, at 9.30 a.m., His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, assisted by a group of Romanian Orthodox hierarchs from the country and abroad, priests and deacons, will celebrate the Divine Liturgy on a scene specially arranged near the Patriarchal Cathedral, facing the canopy of the saints’ relics.

At the Divine Liturgy also present will be the children winners of the “My Creed” National Contest of Christian Oratory organized by the Theological Educational Department of the Romanian Patriarchate, within the framework of the manifestations organized in 2010 on the occasion of the Homage Year of the Orthodox Creed and of the Romanian Autocephaly. Thousands of children from all over the country participating in the catechetic programme entitled Christ shared with the children were registered at this contest, unfolded for three months in all the eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchate

The answers to the Divine Liturgy will be given by the Symbol choir of children and young people of the Romanian Patriarchate, while the symbol of faith, the Creed, will be recited by all the children participating in the event.
After the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will award prizes to the winners of the National Contest of Christian Oratory, to the ten Olympic students and to their professors from the Archdiocese of Bucharest who got good marks at the National Religion Olympics.

All of them will receive from the Patriarch of Romania the diploma of Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen, the Patriarchal Cross badge, made at the Workshops of the Bible and Orthodox Mission Institute this year, on the occasion of the anniversary of 125 years since the official recognition of the autocephaly of the Romanian Orthodox Church (1885) and of 85 years since the raising to the rank of Patriarchate (1925) and the book entitled Christian Orthodox Symbol of Faith edited by the Archdiocese of Bucharest and published by the “Cuvantul vietii” (Word of Life) editorial office of the Metropolitan See of Muntenia and Dobrudgea.
