From 24 – 25 October 2011, the working session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church took place in the Synodal Hall of the Patriarchal Residence, under the presidency of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.
We mention some of the decisions taken:
- Proclamation of the year 2013 as Homage Year of Saints Constantine and Helen the Emperors, at the anniversary of 1700 years since the Edict of religious tolerance of Milan by emperor Constantine the Great (313 – 2013);
- Approval of the Pastoral letter of the Holy Synod for the Advent of the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas) concerning the aiding of the poor families;
- Organisation in the eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchate of a contest of social-philanthropic education in 2012, the Homage Year of the Sacrament of the Extreme Unction and of looking after the sick;
- Drafting a History of the Romanian Orthodox Parishes;
- Implementation of the catechesis programme for adults entitled Way of Salvation in the eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchate.
