Rev. Sorin Selaru, Patriarchal Counsellor and Director of the Representation of the Romanian Patriarchate at the European Institutions declared for Trinitas TV channel: “First of all it was the meeting with Mr. Thorbjorn Jagland, secretary general at the Council of Europe, then His Beatitude met Mr. Thomas Hammarberg, commissioner for Human Rights, and the third meeting was with Mr. Jean-Paul Costa, President of the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR), at the Human Rights Palace of Strasbourg. Several important themes both for the Romanian Orthodox Church and for the Council of Europe were discussed, such as the rights of religious minorities of Diaspora, the inter-cultural inter-religious dialogue, both from a national and from a European point of view.”
Tonight, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will also participate in a dinner that the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Strasbourg will give in the honour of His Beatitude and will deliver the lecture with the theme Orient, Occident: Present Challenges of the Inter-religious Dialogue, organised at the Cathedral of Strasbourg.
