While referring to the communiqué posted on 9 May 2011 on the official website of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, under the title The Patriarchate of Jerusalem has severed communion with the Romanian Patriarchate, we bring the following clarification:
Although during the visit that His Grace Ciprian Câmpineanul, Assistant bishop to the Patriarch, made to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem on 15 April 2011, the setting up of a bilateral dialogue between the two brotherly Patriarchates was agreed in order to find a solution on the existence of the Romanian Settlement in Jericho, the Romanian Patriarchate notes with surprise and regret that the Patriarchate of Jerusalem has taken a unilateral decision.
The issue of the attitude of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem towards the Romanian Establishment in Jericho, a home for Romanian pilgrims visiting the Holy Land, as well as relations of the Romanian Patriarchate with the Patriarchate of Jerusalem will be discussed during the working session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church on 19 - 20 May 2011.
