On 21, 22 and 23 December 2011, the hierarchs, priests and deacons will celebrate remembrance services at the cemeteries, monuments and road side shrines dedicated to the heroes of December 1989 from all over the country, who sacrificed their lives 22 years ago for the freedom, faith and dignity of the Romanian people.
In Bucharest, remembrance services for the heroes of December 1989 will be celebrated at the church and cross of the Young Heroes, at the crosses in University Square and Roman Square, at the Monument raised in the honour of the Revolution Heroes, at the Radio and Television buildings, at the Monument of the Gendarme Heroes - Henri Coandă Airport – Otopeni, as well as in some other places where they sacrificed their lives.
Thursday, 22 December 2011, 11.00 hours, a remembrance service for the heroes of December 1989 will be celebrated in the Patriarchal Cathedral, after the Divine Liturgy.
We remind the fact that according to the decision of the Holy Synod, the “Romanian soldiers heroes and fighters of all times and places, who sacrificed their lives in battlefields, labour camps and prisons for defending their homeland and ancient faith, for completing the nation, for the freedom and dignity of the Romanian people” are remembered at every Divine Liturgy celebrated in the churches and monasteries in the country and abroad.
