On 1 and 2 September 2010, the working session of the Commission for Statutes and Regulations of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church is held in Conventus Room of the Patriarchal Palace, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. To start with the meeting, a Te Deum will be celebrated at 9.30 a.m. in the Romanian Cathedral, at the beginning of the church year (1 September).
Proposals for amending the Statutes for the Organisation and Functioning of the Romanian Orthodox Church will be analysed during the working session of the Commission for Statutes and Regulations.
Friday, 3 September 2010, 10.00 o’clock a.m., the setting up meeting of the Church National Assembly of the Romanian Orthodox Church for the period 2010 – 2014 will be held in Patriarch Teoctist – Aula Magna, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. According to the Statutes for the Organisation and Functioning of the Romanian Orthodox Church (Articles 19 and 20), the Church National Assembly is the central deliberative body of the Romanian Orthodox Church for administrative, social, cultural, economical and patrimonial issues, made up of the members of the Holy Synod and three representatives of each eparchy, one clergy and 2 laymen, delegated by the eparchial assemblies for four years. They can be delegated for two tenures at last.
The daily agenda includes the validation of the tenures of the three members of each eparchy, appointment of the members of the standing commissions of the Church National Assembly (Administrative-Juridical and Validation Commission, Social and Media Communication Commission, Cultural Educational Commission, Economical Budgetary and Real Estate- Church Assets Commission, Commission for the Orthodox Romanians Abroad) and the election of the members of the Church National Council.
