New Antimensions Consecrated in the Archdiocese of Bucharest

Yesterday, February 2, 2010, on the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, in the Patriarchal Chapel, before the celebration of the Holy Liturgy, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and His Grace Varsanufie, Auxiliary Bishop of the Bucharest Archdiocese, consecrated 1.001 new Antimensions, which will be offered to all the parishes, monasteries and sketes in the Bucharest Archdiocese.

At the end of the service, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church explained the importance of Antimensions in the liturgical framework of the Church, reminding that its symbolism is related to the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Entombment, as well as to the mystery of Christ's sacrificial love for the world.
