From 6 – 7 July 2010, the working session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church will take place in the Synodal Room of the Patriarchal Palace, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.
During the meeting, the Romanian Patriarchate will submit to the Holy Synod members for analysis and approval a social pastoral programme for the period of economical crisis. The programme stipulates aids granted to the aged families with low pensions, to the poor families with many children but low income, as well as to the poor sick people, and it will be implemented within parishes, monasteries, deaneries and eparchial centres through philanthropic canteens, and donations of aliments, clothes, of any other products strictly needed and of money too.
Wednesday, 7 July 2010, 1.00 o’clock, the winners of the design contest for the Cathedral of the Nation’s Salvation organised by the Romanian Patriarchate will be awarded prizes in “Patriarch Teoctist” Aula Magna of the Patriarchal Palace, in the presence of the hierarchs of the Holy Synod and of some other guests. On this occasion, the site www.catedralaneamului.ro the Basilica Press Centre achieved in collaboration with the Department for Church Monuments and Constructions and the support of the IT Service of the Romanian Patriarchate will be officially launched.
