Today, 1 September 2010, the working session of the Commission for the Statutes and Regulations of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church was held at the Patriarchal Residence of Bucharest – informs Trinitas Radio station. The main points of the daily agenda are the analysis of the proposals for amending the Statutes for the Organization and Functioning of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

To open with the working session, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel explained why the reviewing of the document was necessary: “We thought it was necessary to improve the Statutes, although it is rather recent, but the changes occurred in society and the experience of the last few years, from a pastoral church point of view, imposed its improvement, mostly since it was drafted pressed by time because in 2008 we had to present it so that it could be confirmed by the Romanian Government and accepted as a Statutes that did not contradict the Romanian legislation in force.”
