From 16 – 21 April 2010, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, accompanied by a delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church will pay a canonical visit to the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Spain and Portugal.
We mention some of the main moments of the visit:
Friday, 16 April 2010, the delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church will be officially received at the Romanian Orthodox parish church of the Saint Virgin Mary of Madrid.
Saturday, 17 April 2010, the delegation will visit the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Madrid and will meet His Eminence Policarp, Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Spain and Portugal. The same day the Patriarchate delegation will visit the Romanian Orthodox parishes of Saint Great Martyr George of Alcala de Henares, Saint Hierarch Nectarie of Coslada and Saint Andrew the Apostle of Arganda del Rey, where the representatives of the local authorities will be also present.
Sunday, 18 April 2010, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, together with a group of Romanian Orthodox hierarchs and priests and of some other sister Orthodox Churches from Europe, will celebrate the Divine Liturgy and lay the foundation stone to the future Romanian Orthodox Episcopal Cathedral of Moadrid.
On Monday and Tuesday, 19 – 20 April 2010, His Beatitude will meet Don Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, Archbishop of Madrid and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Spain, Don Rodiguez Plaza, Archbishop of Toledo and Primate of Spain, Mr. Francisco Caamano Dominguez, Minister for Justice, the religious cults depend on, Mrs. Esperanza Aghire, President of the Community of Madrid, as well as some other personalities of the public religious life of Spain.
Monday, 19 April 2010, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will participate in a reception that Mrs. Maria Ligor, Romanian Ambassador in Madrid, will give in the honour of the delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Tuesday, 20 April 2010, His Beatitude will visit the Romanian Orthodox parish of Protection of the Mother of God of Toledo, where the representatives of the local authorities will be also present.
The Patriarch of Romania will return to Bucharest on 21 April 2010, in the evening.
