Press Conference At The Patriarchal Palace Presenting The Final Classification Of The Design Contest Of The Cathedral Of The Nation’s Salvation
Yesterday, 2 July 2010, a press conference was held at 12.00 o’clock p.m., in Europa Christiana room of the Patriarchal Palace, announcing the result of the design contest for the Cathedral of the Nation’s Salvation.

The Conference was held by His Grace Ciprian Campineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, and by Prof. Eng. Nicoale Noica, on behalf of the Special Commission for the Cathedral of the Nation’s Salvation of the Romanian Patriarchate.

During the conference, His Grace Ciprian Campineanul mentioned the members of the Commission for final estimation of the projects chaired by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, as well as the four technical estimation sub-commissions as follows: sub-commission of resistance, sub-commission of architecture, sub-commission of installations and the financial sub-commission. “These experts in the four sub-commissions have worked for four weeks since they were given the written drawn documentation, with secret character, and gave a certain number of points which created the classification of each special branch. These points and classifications were submitted to the jury, namely to the Commission for final estimation of the designs, two days ago, on 30 June. The Commission for final estimation met yesterday, 1 July, and “analyzed the agreement between the estimation criteria resulting from the terms and theme proposed by the Romanian Patriarchate and illustrated in the scale model presented and the results submitted in the four commissions”, said His Grace Ciprian Campineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, according to Trinitas TV station. While keeping the points of the four sub-commissions, the sum of the points and classifications made the final classification of the winners; then the documentation was opened and the names of the design societies registered for the contest were read.

Then, His Grace Ciprian Campineanul presented the final classification of the participants in the contest, the 1st place having been awarded to Design (Project) no. 2, represented by SC VANEL EXIM – BACAU, which acquired 81,52 points. Society SC VANEL EXIM- BACAU will conclude the complete design contract with the Romanian Patriarchate. Because no project acquired 90 points, the 1st Prize was not awarded, so that the winner got only the 2nd prize.

The 3rd prize was awarded to project no. 4, of society SC WEST GROUP ARCHITECTURE SRL – BUCURESTI, the winner of the 2nd place, who acquired 80, 18 points. The amount granted to the 3rd prize will be 30,000 euro. Society SCEXPROCONS GISAV SRL – IASI, society SC CRIBA DESIGN SRL – BUCHAREST and the “DRIG BOGDAN” DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE – ARAD will get for the designs presented, Design 5, Design 6, Design 7, Mention I, II and III, and the amount of 10,000 euro each. Design no. 3 of Society SC MINA –M- COM SRL – Bucharest and Design no. 1 of Society SC OLDARTPRO SRL – SUCEAVA will be awarded special distinctions and the mount of 5,000 euro each.

As Trinitas TV station informs us, the costs involved by the construction of this Cathedral will be covered only by the Romanian Patriarchate without the financial support of the state, in two ways: credit from a bank and donations from faithful, through fund raising organized in churches or directly, in the following accounts opened at BCR (Romanian Commercial Bank), branch of Sector 4, Bucharest.
