Further on, His Beatitude celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church of “Saint John the Baptist” assisted by His Eminence Iosif, Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan of Western and Meridional Europe, by His Eminence Casian, Archbishop of Lower Danube, by His Grace Timotei, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Spain and Portugal, by His Grace Marc Nemţeanul, Assistant Bishop to the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Western Europe, as well as by a group of priests and deacons.
To end with the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel offered Rev. Vasile Iorgulescu, parish priest of the Romanian Orthodox church of “Saint John the Baptist” of Strasbourg a set of holy vessels, a new antimis, as well as the “Patriarchal cross” for clergy. His Beatitude has also delivered a sermon for those present in which he spoke about the significance of the iconostasis and of the icon, in general.
Lots of faithful, Romanian theological students, as well as veteran members of the parish attended the Divine Liturgy. The parish chorus gave the answers at the pew.
Tonight, the Patriarch of Romania will consecrate the church dedicated to “Saints Cosma and Damian” of the Romanian Orthodox parish of Mulhouse city, situated about 100 km South of Strasbourg.
