The Cathedral For The Nation’s Salvation In Being Built
The building yard in Dealul Arsenalului St., where the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation will be built has reached the anchorage stage, namely the third layer. The excavations are continued too.

“This is a more difficult stage, because everything is worked under the level of the underground water, the digging too, as well as the armature and reinforcement. This is the last stage of the special foundations executed for the cathedral, that must be followed by other classic stages”, said engineer Narcis Caralicea, for Trinitas TV.

The Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation will represent, when all the fittings are ready, a symbol of the tradition of the Romanian sacred constructions expressed in the contemporary architectural language.

The body of the nave will be raised cross-shaped till the cornice at 45 m high. The main nave is divided into three horizontal registers taken over from the tradition of the Romanian mediaeval churches.

The porticos are a synthesis between the folk balcony and the architecture of the Brancovean monasteries and palaces. These ones are located at the main entrance, protecting the lateral entrances close to the narthex and surrounding semi-circularly the apse of the altar.

The seven belfries are surrounded by columns, just like the porticos at the first level, in harmony with the other compositional register.

The main belfry, of the Pantocrator, the main vertical element of the ensemble will be raised up to 120 m high, pointing out the importance of the Resurrection for the Orthodox faith.
