His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel Will Pay a Canonical Visit to Germany
The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:
From 9 – 12 September 2011, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and a delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church will pay a canonical visit to the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Germany, Austria and Luxemburg, at the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Serafim, Metropolitan for Germany, Central and Northern Europe.
We mention some of the main moments of the visit:
Saturday, 10 September 2011, in the morning, the Patriarch of Romania will meet His Eminence Cardinal Reinhard Marx, Archbishop of Freising and Munich, as well as His Excellency Dr. Johannes Friedrich, Evangelical Bishop of Bavaria.
In the afternoon, he will visit the General Consulate of Romania in Munich, and then will meet Mrs. Barbara Stamm, President of the Bavarian Parliament. On this occasion, aspects of the support that the local authorities grant to the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan See of Germany will be discussed.
Sunday, 11 September 2011, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, assisted by a group of Romanian Orthodox hierarchs and priests of some other sister Orthodox Churches of Europe will celebrate the Divine Liturgy and lay the foundation stone to the future Romanian church in Munich, dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and to Saint Hierarch Calinic from Cernica/b>.
In the afternoon, the Patriarch of Romania will address a message during the opening festivity of the 25th International Meeting for Peace organised by Sant’Egidio Community on the theme “Bound to live together”. During the event, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will meet President of Germany, His Excellency Dr. Christian Wulf.
Monday, 12 September 2011, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church will deliver a paper entitled “Theological Dialogue and Ecumenical Co-operation”, within the forum on the theme Christian Unity and Love for the Poor, organised as part of the International Meeting for Peace, where Mrs. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany will also participate.
The same day in the afternoon, the delegation of the Romanian Patriarchate will meet Dr. Marcel Huber, Minister State Secretary of the Bavarian Government, in order to discuss aspects concerning the support granted to the Romanian community in Bavaria.
The Patriarch of Romania will return to Bucharest on 12 September, in the afternoon.
