First services at Romanian Parish in Dubai to be celebrated in September

Aurelian Iftimiu

The first services at the newly established Romanian parish in Dubai will be officiated in September, parish priest Alexandru Truşcan told the Basilica News Agency.

The services will be occasioned by the main patronal feast of the parish, the Nativity of the Mother of God. For the beginning, he will serve in the Orthodox church in Dubai’s Jebel Ali neighbourhood, a place of worship dedicated to the Annunciation of the Theotokos, belonging to the Antioch Patriarchate.

In the near future, the obtaining of land for the construction of a place of worship will be considered. Father Alexandru specified that steps have been initiated in this regard.

The establishment of the parish was decided at the last meeting of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church on July 21, 2021.

Father Alexandru Truşcan was ordained to the priesthood on June 1, 2021, at Radu Vodă Monastery.
